Me Too Project - Why Black and White?

I have been asked on several occasions why I have chosen to approach this project in black and white. For me, this felt like an obvious choice. The reason is made clear in this Ted Grant quote:

“When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls.”

Through this project, participants share some of their most vulnerable and intimate moments and thoughts and I feel that the simplicity of the black and white imagery is beautifully aligned with that authenticity.  I want to strip away everything in this project and concentrate on those bearing their souls, with whom I collaborate.
